The bonus instead of wage increase trick reminds DailyPUMA of the scam Donald Trump tried to pull with Mexico at the beginning of his presidency when recordings of Trump surfaced asking Mexico to lie about paying for the wall so he could look good to his supporters. In this instance, DP can see Trump cajoling companies like Disney or Apple to announce 1,000 dollar bonuses so that his Income Tax plan looks good to Trump's supporters, and also as a thank you from Corporations because of the huge corporate income tax deduction recently signed into law. Meanwhile the bonus now instead of a wage increase can easily turn into quid pro quo reduction from any future wage increase, which as cited above, could actually mean a substantial loss over a 10 year period of social security retirement wages.
It's really this simple, if a worker gets a bonus now, that amount of bonus could possible be MINUSED from any future wage increase.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are so fixated on EVERYBODY matters, and IMMIGRANTS matter, that they have ceded AMERICANS matter, to Trump. The Democrat rally cry of more for everybody and there is room for everybody, when those who were already here in America were losing their wealth, is a meme primarily popular with Progressive Democrats because those directly affected by Trump's Immigration policies become a bountiful source of Democrat Votes. Plus those newest to our country are going to scream the loudest if their stay is in jeopardy, however, those who have been in the U.S. for decades upon decades may stay silent and simply vote for Trump in four years because they don't want to be put behind anyone else and defiantly reject being called a racist because they object to what they perceive are line jumpers.
Even when Trump lies, at least he is talking up the "America First" propaganda that Democrats have abandoned in favor of Immigration. Democrats are gambling big time that blasting "America First" as being a racist slogan will give them the presidency in 2020.
